Features - Speed and Effciency
News Rover is designed to save you time. It is also designed to make
the maximum use of your Internet connection.
News Rover was designed from scratch for the 32-bit environment of
Windows 95 and NT. It makes full use of the extended memory capabilites
and the multi-threaded features of these operating systems.
One News Rover thread is dedicated to receiving messages from your
news server. It keeps the data flowing at the maximum rate that your
Internet connection can provide.
A second News Rover thread processes messages after they have been
received by the data collection thread. It is responsible for doing
UU and MIME decoding and checking messages to see if they match the
Include and Exclude expressions. If a message
is accepted by this thread, it is stored in the appropriate holding
area associated with the Interest group.
A third thread is used to display messages and pictures. This means
that you can read messages and view pictures while News Rover is
running at full speed and accepting more messages and pictures.
With News Rover, the action never stops!
